Root Canal

A root canal (or endodontic treatment) is a conservative alternative to removing and replacing a tooth that has suffered from internal infection. In each of your teeth, canals house a sensitive nerve, also called the tooth’s pulp. Should the nerve become damaged and infected, you’ll experience pain as a result of pressure building inside the tooth. Ultimately, the tooth will die and you will be susceptible to blood borne infection that could travel from your mouth through your body. For this reason, it is extremely important to remove the infected portion of the tooth.

Dr. Deneka will remove the infection and fill your tooth with an inert substance. Though we perform many root canals in our office, sometimes access to the tooth or the shape of the tooth makes treatment extremely difficult and you are best served by the services of a specialist. Dr. Deneka will not hesitate to refer you to an endodontist. Our primary goal is to have the best person treat your situation.

After root canal treatment, we will suggest that you crown the tooth to make it structurally more solid. While the tooth will no longer be living, it will remain safely in tact to serve you well and preserve your bite/occlusion.
